GISH Hall of Fame 2021 - GISH Fest

Welcome to the world’s weirdest, wildest, most beautiful and strange images and videos from the
Greatest International Scavenger Hunt!

The submissions below were selected by HARSHers, Misha and the Judges to be the best of the best of GISH 2021 - GISH Fest. Enjoy exploring the weirdness! Browse through them, or click on an item number to see the top submissions.

Item 32: (SHOT PORTRAIT/VERTICAL, IF VIDEO) You’ve heard of a headband — but YOU have a head-band. Show us a live band performing that is also the hair accessory on top of your head. Bonus points if we can actually hear it playing music. Rock out with your weird selves.

Item 18: Dance like no one’s watching (even though we definitely are). Bust out your headphones and music and bust a move somewhere no one would ever expect to see someone dancing while wearing the wildest, brightest fashion accessories possible. Want a dance partner? Join us in the GISH Zoom Lounge at 2:30PM PT for Silent Disco with a live DJ!

Item 2: Every music festival needs flower crowns. Make a beautiful flower crown out of recycled materials, fruit peels, or other things you find around your house. Dough-nus points for making a baked salt-dough "flour crown."

Item 36: (TIMELAPSE). Tie-dye is so last GISH. We’re doing FLY dye. Using (safe) projectiles (spoons, etc), fling Jell-O and Kool-aid powder creatively at a wet, white t-shirt to create a beautiful pattern. Oh, and your friend is wearing the shirt while you do this. (Flying solo? Use gravity as your friend.)

Item 25: (SIDE-BY-SIDE). The music world wouldn’t be what it is without the contributions of Black musicians, but too often the voices of these creators have been stolen, silenced, and appropriated by white dudes. (We’re lookin’ at you, Led Zeppelin and Elvis.) Create a side-by-side music festival poster — one side listing the Black original creators, the other, white artists that build their fame on their work. Post it to social media tagging #GISH and #BlackVoicesMatter with an explanation of who they were and a link to their song. An example: Elvis’ Hound Dog made him famous in 1956, but was written for and originally performed by Big Mama Thornton in 1952.
